INETL, IP releasing consumer price index for the month of October 2023

Díli, 21 October 2023, The Interim Precident of INETL, IP Timor-Leste, Mr. Silvino Lopes releases report of Consumer Price Index-CPI for October 2023. The event was held at the INETL, IP, Conference Room, Cai-coli, Dili, Timor-Leste.

The percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for each month was (+0.2%) in October, 2023 compared to September, 2023 (+1.0%).                            

The change in the large group (+0.2%) also contributed significantly to the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverage (+0.4%) and Transport (+1.0%). Group Alcohol and Tobacco (-0.5%), Housing (-0.1%) and Equipment furnituring and Housing Service (-0.1%) showed contrary changes to group inflation. The Group Food in Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+0.4%) has a major impact on the Rice sub-group (+2.8%). The sub-group Vegetables (-0.3%), Sugar, Marmalade, Honey, Chocolate and Sweet Food (-1.7%) and Cooking Oils and Fats (-1.9%) change against the inflation in the group food of Non-alcoholic beverages.

The change in annual percentage of CPI rising (+8.7%) compared to the previous year 2022 was mainly contributed by the Non-Alcoholic Beverages group (+11.2%) %), Alcohol and Tobacco (+30.3%), Education (+7.0%), Footwear (+1.9%), Communications (+0.7%) for the year October 2023. Transportation Group (-3.1%), Recreation and Culture (-1.1%), Equipment furnituring and Housing Service (-2.9%) Housing (-0.1%) adjusting contrary to annual group inflation in October 2023. Tradable inflation (+0.2%) and non-tradable inflation (+0.1%) monthly, compare between October 2023 and September 2023.  Inflation of Tradable increased (+10.9%) and non-tradable also increased (+3.0%) in annually, compare between October 2023 with October 2022.
